If the hair on top isn’t growing, won’t people notice?2023-05-17T18:47:01+00:00

Because the hair in the back and the sides is still growing longer, this is enough of a change to look different as time progresses. But in reality, you have to realize that other people are far too concerned with other things to notice subtle details like that. The only thing they’ll notice is that your hair looks thicker, fuller, and that you look several years younger!

I have a hair system I bought elsewhere. Will you cut it in for me?2023-05-17T18:46:28+00:00

The cost of cutting in a piece from elsewhere is $250. Call 416-631-7857 or send us an email to schedule an appointment.

I still have some hair remaining on the top of my head. What are my options?2023-05-17T18:46:07+00:00

No problem. We shave down any remaining hair to 1/16″ before applying the system to ensure a strong and undetectable bond.

What do you need from me if I’m ordering online?2023-05-17T18:45:48+00:00
  1. A hair sample
  2. A template/outline of the thinning area.
  3. Photos of your front, back and side (1 of each pose)
  4. If you already wear a hair system then a few photos of the system on you so I can see what you are doing.

A deposit 1/2 down and 1/2 on delivery is required to start your order. Payment can be made by Visa, M/C, Amex, Debit, Money Order, PayPal or eTransfer.

How long does it usually take to book a free consultation?2023-05-17T18:45:24+00:00

Usually 1-2 weeks in advance of when you’d like to come in. Call our office at 416-631-7857 to book a consultation or email us.

For online orders we can usually arrange a Skype consultation within a couple of weeks as well.

What type of effect will wearing these systems have on my existing hair?2023-05-17T18:45:01+00:00

Provided attachment and adhesives are chosen carefully, none at all. Traction alopecia and other scalp problems only occur when using adhesives that are not FDA/Health Canada approved, or after the prolonged use of clips for attachment, which is not recommended. For safest results, always use approved tapes and glues.

I’m ready to try this. How does the process work?2023-05-17T18:44:38+00:00

Come in and discuss your options and we’ll make some choices together. We then take a template, a hair sample, a wave sample and discuss your styling options. You place a deposit, and we place your order. It takes 12 weeks for your system to come in, and only a couple of hours to cut-in and walk you through maintenance.

If for any reason you are unable or live too far to attend at our salon, we invite you to email us for a Skype consultation and ee can then discuss your options.

What payment methods do you take for online purchases?2023-05-17T18:44:16+00:00

You can send payment through PayPal to newroots@rogers.com, pay over the phone with credit card by Visa, M/C, Amex, Debit, Money Order, PayPal or eTransfer, or send via western union.

Do you sell stock (non-custom) systems and are they cheap? How do you size them to my head?2023-05-17T18:43:58+00:00

Sizing stock hair systems is easy, we prepare a template and size it to fit. Our stock systems are here to provide a service for people who are in a rush. We can offer a $100.00 discount if one of our stock units suits you. If you have the time, it’s always best to wait a few months for a custom system.

What kind of a system was used in the videos with Nick and the latest clients? It looked unbelievable!2023-05-17T18:43:37+00:00

The hair system used in videos are skin injection and lace fronts using Virgin Remy hair and was custom designed here at New Roots Studio and made at our overseas factory following knotting styles used in Movies for the most natural results. The systems attached with glue in the front. We can show you similar systems if you come in for a free consultation, at which point we can let you try a Movie Hair system on if you wish, and see the difference it will make on you. We feel it’s very important for you to see what the hair will look like on you before you buy.

Am I limited to only certain hairstyles?2023-05-17T18:43:18+00:00

No, the hair can be washed and styled like any other head of hair, and can be designed to perfectly accommodate your chosen style.

Can I swim with my hair system?2023-05-17T18:43:00+00:00

Absolutely. Most adhesives are meant to be water-proof and will hold up to a swim. If you intend on doing frequent swimming make sure you let us know, and we’ll help you choose an adhesive that works best for prolonged periods in the water.

How long does a hair system like this typically last?2023-05-17T18:42:38+00:00

3 to 4 months looking it’s best if it is worn daily and slept in. Some clients find they can go longer.

Do you have any more pictures of different guys wearing your hair systems?2023-05-17T18:42:05+00:00

It is very hard to get real clients to put their photos online. We do have 3 different clients who have let us use their photographs and videos, and we are working on finding more. But privacy is the reason we aren’t able to show a wide variety of clients.

We offer a free hair system to anyone who lets us film and post their cut-in on our website.

The hair system is incredible, but I’ve heard a lot of systems look good for a few days after the cut-in and then quickly turn lifeless and faded. Can you comment on this?2023-05-17T18:41:39+00:00

You always get what you pay for. We use top quality hair and it is up to the user to style and care for their hair. We do not have this issue with our systems, due to the type of hair and the quality of how we produce our products.

We offer a 30 day guarantee for any manufacturing defects.

Do you recommend having two pieces at all times?2023-05-17T18:41:18+00:00

Having 2 always comes in handy especially if you live any distance from our salon, you will save money and cut down travel time by cutting in more than one system per visit. You can also use the first one while the second is being repaired or styled.

I don’t live in Toronto. Do I have to come into the Salon or can this be done long-distance?2023-05-17T18:40:55+00:00

Yes, it can be done long distance.  We have clients from all over the world. This way we can design the hairline and system for you personally. Once we have your design we do not need it again for many years in most cases. If you know a good stylist that can cut and style the hair system in for you, you’re good to go!

That said, if you are too far to come in, there are options. We can arrange to help you get a template made in your hometown or show you how to make your own, and get you a system, wherever you are. Other options may also be available.

Which of the three adhesive options allow the system to stay on the scalp for a month?2023-05-17T18:48:58+00:00

The medical glue that we offer, often called a ‘poly-fuse’, lasts for up to 6 weeks.

How customizable is the hairline? Can I have a widow’s peak?2023-05-17T18:48:35+00:00

Yes we can make the hairline with a widow’s peak or any shape that looks the most natural. Our focus is on restoring the natural hairline you think best suits you.

I’ve heard there are different base types like lace and skin. What is the best choice?2023-05-17T18:48:14+00:00

Your choice of hair system base depends on your own lifestyle and preferences. Lace at the front can offer the most undetectable hairline and can be fully undetectable to the touch as well. Skin around the edges can help make the bond as strong as possible and make it easier to clean. During your free consultation we will go through the various options and help you design a custom hair system that works perfect for you.

What type of hair is used?2023-05-17T18:47:56+00:00

We only use 100% human hair for the most natural results. For purchases made at our salon, we also offer a special European hair option, which gives you even more incredible realism and blending if you have thinner hair. No matter what you choose, our hair is only the finest quality and looks and behaves exactly like your own.

What is the best adhesive to use, and why?2023-05-17T18:47:38+00:00

There isn’t one right choice when it comes to adhesive. Double-sided tapes, clips, or glue are your options, and all of them have their own strengths, so it comes down to your preference.

Tapes last 7-10 days but they are considered the easiest and cleanest attachment method. Glues can last up to a month, but are a bit more difficult to cleanup and apply. Clips are fairly easy as well but come with detectability issues as well as the threat of losing some of your natural hair to something called traction alopecia.

At your free consultation we will sit with you and go over your options and help you decide which direction to go.

What do you think of a partial piece for just the crown? Or is it better to just go for a full ‘topper’?2023-05-17T18:47:19+00:00

We would have to see how the blend area looks and also how you will wear your hair. Everything is possible as long as we are accurate in our design. Full systems do allow for a continuous flow, but we have many partial clients who are very happy too. It all depends on how you choose to style your hair.

I exercise often and sweat a lot. Will this do damage to my system?2023-05-17T18:51:45+00:00

Frequent sweating can require you to de-bond, clean and re-attach more often, but not in all cases. It depends on your choice of adhesive and how well it resists your sweat. Everyone’s body chemistry is a bit different. Through experimentation, we can usually find an adhesive method and attachment routine that works best for even our most physically active clients.

Do I have to take any special care when washing the system?2023-05-17T18:51:26+00:00

The system uses 100% human hair and therefore you use normal shampoo and conditioner. Instead of scrubbing with your fingers, we recommend you wash through it with a brush. You can find our videos on that to get you up to speed on all maintenance and care issues under the how-to tab of this website or on YouTube under New Roots.

Can I use any hair product I wish?2023-05-17T18:51:08+00:00

Yes, although I recommend salon quality products to ensure your hair system is well-taken care of for as long as possible.

Is there anything I cannot do with my hair system?2023-05-17T18:50:49+00:00

I recommend you avoid intense heat as it can destroy the hair system. Always use low-heat on your blow dryer.

Can I shower with the system on?2023-05-17T18:50:27+00:00

Yes, you can shower with the system on. The amount of time and clean-up depends on the attachment method you picked. At regular intervals you will still need to de-bond the system and deep clean it.

How long does it take to put on the hair system from start to finish?2023-05-17T18:50:09+00:00

Once you get good at it, 30-45 minutes is all it will take.

How long can I wear the hair system once it’s bonded?2023-05-17T18:49:53+00:00

It all depends on how you choose to attach it. With tape, 7-10 days. With glue, depending on the type and your preference, you can last up to 3-5 weeks. Regardless of the method you choose, the front hairline should always be cleaned once every 7-10 days. This is very easy to do at home and we can show you how it’s done.

How often do you recommend I take off my system, clean, and reapply?2023-05-17T18:49:34+00:00

This is often called a bond/debond. We recommend you do it once a week to once every 10 days or so to keep things as fresh as possible. However, many clients prefer  to do a ‘perimeter bond’ which allows them to go up to a full month between detachments.

The hair system is incredible, but I’ve heard a lot of systems look good for a few days after the cut-in and then quickly turn lifeless and faded. Can you comment on this?2023-05-17T18:49:16+00:00
